You have a great lesson that is structured for middle school students. I have checked out the online video clip and I have used the Tacoma bridge for a bridge building project I presented when I was student teaching. It is a good visual of what a bridge should not do. Check your spelling of principle should be vice "principal". I love the idea of building a bridge. With your restrictions have you considered Voicethreads to share and comment with for your class collaboration. I really like that you are willing to build a small safe collaborative community to introduce this project. Our district does not allow the elementary to email, so we are also restricted and prohibited from using epals. I would love to see a final student project.
